What is VandyNow?By now, you have browsed the VandyNow Web site, connected with a few friends and even invited a few of your own. But you still may be wondering about its origin and its long-term vision.
VandyNow is the brainchild of a few Vanderbilt University alums who have remained connected over the years and who really wanted others to have the opportunity to do the same using available social networking technologies. The purpose of VandyNow is sincerely threefold as we seek for you and your fellow alumni to:
The Web site currently hosts 165+ alumni, special interest groups, and discussion forums. Community members are able to utilize their individual and group pages to post photos, videos, and blog posts creating a Family Reunion-like atmosphere. As the Web site expands, we look forward to building a strong web-based networking site that is relevant and meets the needs of each community member. We would value you in connecting with some of your classmates and friends with VandyNow to make this connectivity vision a reality.
As you may know, since 1951, when Bishop Joseph Johnson became the first African-American to be admitted to Vanderbilt University, over 3,500 African-Americas have attended Vanderbilt. The VandyNow Networking Community's main goal is to allow those 3,500 students to stay connected and be excited about being a Vandy Alum.
