Jazz at The Know - Weekly jam hosted by jazz writer & announcer Larry Thomas. Fridays, 8:00-10 p.m. $7, free for participating musicians. See the details below:You're not going to find the latest nutrition, self-help or mystery book here -- that's because The Know Bookstore has stood out since 1982. The shop stocks books by African-American authors like Zora Neale Hurston, Alice Walker, Toni Morrison and Langston Hughes, but there's a lot more than fiction offered here. Peruse the shelves and find old and new books on African-American history, religion and children's books, all interspersed with knickknacks like African masks and wooden figurines. On Fridays, come see this place in its prime when it offers Jazz at The Know, a live jazz series hosted by writer and jazz announcer Larry Thomas and featuring music by pianist Yusuf Salim. For a $7 cover charge, you can not only listen, but also join in the jazz jam that follows the show. And while you're there, stop by the old-school food counter, where the chefs claim to make the best jerk chicken, seafood and sides in town.Once again, this is FYI for all members and this is a weekly event. This event will not be hosted and hope you enjoy, if you attend.
